How to store and serve a cheese board
Keep a cheese board refrigerated until about 30 minutes before serving so the cheeses soften and show their flavour. Serve mild cheeses first and strong ones last, and wrap leftover cheese separately so flavours do not mix.
Before serving
Take the board out of the fridge about 30 minutes ahead. Cold cheese tastes muted. Leave it covered so it does not dry out.
Cutting and order
Cut a few pieces from each cheese so guests can start. Eat from mild to strong: fresh and soft cheeses, then firm, then aged, sharp and blue.
Leftovers
Wrap each cheese on its own in wax paper or cling film and refrigerate. Eat soft cheeses within a day or two. Keep crackers apart so they stay crisp.
When it arrives as a gift
Boards from House of Cheeseboards are best enjoyed the day they arrive. If the recipient will not be home, ask them to refrigerate the board and take it out half an hour before serving.
